Tami began competitive swimming at age 9 and continued through college. She was a state runner up for Kennedy High school and won numerous state titles and high point awards in club swimming. She swam for Iowa State while earning a BS at ISU in Health and Human Performance. Tami will graduate from the nursing program at Grand View University in Dec, 2009.
Six months after completing her collegiate swim career in Feb of 06, Tami got the bug for athletic competition again and decided to compete in a marathon in June of 07. She qualified for Boston.
Immediately following the marathon she signed up for her first triathlon and
has been hooked since. Since then she has continued to improve. In addition to overall wins in a many Iowa races, some of her
career highlights include: Age Group wins
at Hy-Vee 2007, 2008, Lifetime Fitness 2008, and recently a 10th place
overall finish (3rd age group) at USAT Nationals in 2009.
